Malgré la défaite du Parti démocratique sénégalais (Pds) aux dernières élections locales à Dakar, l’ancien maire de la capitale mobilise encore dans son fief de la Gueule Tapée. En meeting, le président du Sénat a rappelé à ses militants sa volonté de réélire le président Abdoulaye Wade en 2012.
Le Quartier général du Pds s’est déplacé à la Gueule Tapée. Le président du Sénat, Pape Diop, y a clôturé sa tournée politique. Celle-ci entre dans le cadre des manifestations organisées par le comité de relance des activités politiques de Pape Diop, une structure composée de militants de l’ancien maire. Invité dans sa base par la conseillère économique et sociale Niassa Mbengue, Pape Diop a communié avec ses partisans dans une ambiance proche de celle d’une campagne électorale. Au cours de ce meeting, la rue « Sans loi » de la Gueule Tapée a été littéralement tapissée de bleu et de jaune. Arborant qui des banderoles appelant à la réélection de Me Wade, qui des tee-shirts à l’effigie du chef de l’Etat et du président du Sénat, les militants libéraux ont manifesté leur joie de retrouver leur leader. La danseuse Ndèye Guèye a participé à maintenir la foule en liesse avec les célèbres pas de danses dont elle a le secret. Fier de cette mobilisation des grands jours, le président du Sénat a exprimé toute la joie que lui procurent ses retrouvailles avec sa base. « Les images parlent d’elles mêmes. Ce meeting couronne le grand travail entamé par le comité de relance. Nous avons vu les populations de la Gueule Tapée se mobiliser pour soutenir Niassa Mbengue. Je suis fier de votre volonté de travailler à mes côtés pour reconquérir Dakar et réélire le président Wade en 2012. Je vous exhorte à poursuivre dans cette dynamique et à élargir les bases de notre parti », a dit M. Diop dans un discours qui a mis fin à la manifestation.Le Soleil
